The Mughelli Group

A peer at the table, not a vendor at the door.

Everything that is not a keynote, a campaign, the podcast or the foundation runs through The Mughelli Group. One category — business solutions consulting — rather than ten services with ten logos.

Tell me what you are carrying.

Most of what Ovie does in public is speaking and brand work. This is the other thing, and it is the one people are most surprised by — a decade of operating, an MBA, and enough time inside other people’s businesses to recognise a problem before it has a name.

The work is not complicated to describe. Diagnose it, break it down, analyse it, find the solution. Some of it he does himself. Some of it he hands to someone he trusts and then stays in the room for, because a handoff is not help.

He does not take on a company he would not put his name next to. The name is the whole mechanism.

Where the work falls

Three kinds of problem.

  • 01

At the table as a peer

Advisory · diagnosis · equity positions

Sometimes the job is not a vendor introduction, it is a second set of eyes from someone who has run things. In his words: I am a peer of theirs, and I have worked with businesses before. I can help them diagnose, break it down, analyse it and find solutions. Occasionally that comes with equity in the outcome, which is the version where everyone is pointed the same way.

  • 02

    The cost of your people

    Benefits · utilisation · engagement

Benefits, utilisation, wellness and retention — the line that gets renewed every year and re-examined almost never. This is the deepest of the three, because it is where the money usually is and because getting a workforce to actually use what you have already bought is a specific skill. See how that work runs →

  • 03

    Expert insight and vetted introductions

Referral · diligence · second opinion

The catch-all, and deliberately so. Corporate travel, supplemental coverage, preventative care, tax and tariff exposure — the specialists he has spent real time inside. He will not publish a directory of them, because a list of logos is not advice. He will tell you which one of them your problem belongs to, or that none of them do.

One example

What it looks like when it works.

An employer was already paying for the coverage. The plan was good. Almost nobody was using it, and the people least likely to sit through a benefits meeting were the ones the plan had been designed for.

Employees who would not typically sit through a benefits discussion were willing to stop, listen, and participate.

That is the whole category in one story: the spend was never the problem, the attention was. The longer version of this work →

How it works

  • 01

You tell me what you are carrying

Headcount, the renewal number, and what broke last year. Twenty minutes is usually enough to know whether there is anything here.

  • 02

I tell you whose problem it is

Mine, someone I know, or nobody’s. If it is the third one you will hear that in the first conversation, not the fourth.

  • 03

    I stay in the room

Through the design, the quotes and the rollout. Not handing over a contact and disappearing, and not billing for a meeting I did not attend.

  • 04

We agree the number before anyone books a date

If we cannot name what would count as this having worked, that is usually a sign it will not.

How I am paid

I hold equity or commission arrangements with some of the companies I introduce, and I am compensated when a relationship converts. You should know that before we talk, not after. Nothing on this page is medical advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy a specific insurance product. Full disclosures.

Tell me what you are carrying.

Headcount, your renewal date, and the part of it that is not working. If this is not the right room for it, you will be told that instead.
